TriviaContest

The winner of the April Trivia contest is Michele Amos from North Kingstown, Rhode Island! Congratulations Michele!
The correct answer was: D
The federal highway act of 1921 began the thrust in the United States for highway development, under this new act the first transcontinental road built in the United States was the Lincoln Highway which was completed in 1927.
Federal and state authorities soon realized that a painless way to pay for new road and highway construction was through taxes on gasoline having the automobile literally build its own roads. Roads and highways became a high priority and everything possible was done to put America on wheels, the automobile would provide the power to do the work and taxes would pay the cost.
Now that the modern highways were being built the automakers began to realize their product would have to change as consumers wanted more performance and style in their cars, this was the end of the Model T era as American automobile manufacturing looked toward a bright and innovative future with jazzed up cars that would zoom along super highways across the country.
